Fable (a.k.a Bern)

Just wanted to give you all an update on Fable (Bern) who was adopted from the Mechanicsville PetSmart by us a few weeks ago!  Fable is doing wonderful and has adjusted to life at the Davis household!  He LOVES his other furry siblings (a tabby formerly named Cleopatra…now called Halo, adopted from VCC PetSmart last year, a Beagle and a Boston Terrier).  Fable is what we call a “ground kitty” and he prefers lying on rugs and pet beds versus getting up on the furniture like Halo does.  It’s not uncommon for me to wake up to see Fable lying on my husband’s chest purring up a storm and getting sleepy scratches.  His favorite thing to do is take our spot in the bed after we get up (since it’s all toasty for him already!!) for work in the morning.  He loves sunbathing and has recently begun cuddling w/our dogs.  He and Halo have taken to running around at top speeds like two horses right before bed time and play wrestling for several rounds.  Halo always wins.  We love our kitties and thank you very much for the opportunity to be their masters for a few years!! Thank you for all you do!...

Sorry it has taken so long for me to get you some pictures of Maui, but here are a couple I’ve taken with my phone!  Hope you enjoy them.  She’s doing great!  I absolutely love her and can’t even remember life without her in it!  She’s an amazing companion.  Thank you so much for your help in bringing us together. Hanna

Hi there, Hanna is doing great – she has also taken to the indoor life quite well, and is very fond of her stuffed toys, has frequent ‘puppy quakes’ as we call them, where she tears around the house with her toys playing like a puppy.      She has been walking with me about 4 times a week 1-2 miles, took a while to get adjusted to the walking thing as she was terrified of the lawn mowers and any odd noises, but she is doing so much better, having Jo work with us with the pinch collar really helped, she is on a regular collar now.  She loves playing with other dogs, we spend a lot of time with Scott’s sister who has an 8 year old lab, and they get along great.  She is still working on the house training…again, doing better, but still a few accidents.            She is a sweet girl, loves the kids, and is still obsessed with the cat (see pictures I attached…really quite funny), who has decided that Hanna is ok, and the cat chases the dog around the house.  We are so happy to have her in the family.  So glad her puppy is doing well – hard to believe she had puppies as she seems so young herself!  Thanks for checking on her. Kacey (a.k.a. Cotton)

Hi Everybody, I just wanted to update you on my new home, I love it.  My new family re-named me Kacey, and have taken very good care of me.  Since I left you, I have learned that treats are really good.  If you sit long enough, someone will always give you one.  There are toys at my new home, a stuffed chicken and purple ball are my favorites.  I get to chew on bones and rawhide, I just love that.  My mom takes me running in the mornings, and I just can’t wait.  That walk and getting to wake-up Cassidy, who is 9, are my favorite parts of the morning.  There is even a couch that is just mine, how cool is that.  I get to snuggle right up to Mom and Dad, and no one shoes me off. Guess what, I just graduated from Intermediate Training Class!!! Mom and the trainer say that I have made such progress.  I still get real scared though, just not quite like when I first came here.  Dad and I are getting to know each other, he still scares me some.  Mom says that he is ok, but I just don’t know.  He does give the best treats . . . I think I will give him another try.  Oh yeah, I also have a new dog friend named Boomer.  We run, jump and play until we are all pooped out.   I have learned so much in the 3 months since they brought me home.  I go potty in the backyard, not in the house.  I know the words, crate, sit, down, wait, stay and settle (learned all that in class).  I have learned how to go up and down stairs, and in and out doors.  I learned that inside was much better than out, too hot these days.  I have learned that I can eat and know one will take it from me.  And the best thing is the bowl is filled everyday without fail J  My “T” faded and my coat is starting to become full.  Thank you so much for rescuing me and finding me such a great home.  Mom says I still have some things to work on, I am going to try real hard to stay around here.  I really like it....

Clara

Linda, I saw the section of your website that has updates on the dogs that have been adopted from you, so I thought I would let you know how Clair (we call her Clara now) is doing. It’s hard to believe that she’s only been part of our family for just over 2 months, because she just fits in so well! We are so grateful to have been able to add her to our family. Clara is so friendly and sweet, and loves being around people. It can be quite a challenge to keep her under control when guests come over! Especially when the weather’s nice, she really time she managed to dig out under the fence, but then she just sat right outside the fence barking until I went out to bring her back in! We were amazed (and quite relieved) that she didn’t wander off. We figured she must feel that this is where she belongs.       Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to adopt Clara. She has been such a wonderful addition to our home. Here are a few pictures you might enjoy. The first picture is from a week or so after we brought her home, and she decided to drag her bed out into the kitchen while we were eating dinner. She entertained us for quite a while dragging it all over the kitchen and playing with it! Katie and Tim...
