Thank you to the students at Elmont Elementary

Recently, the students at Elmont Elementary raised money to donate to the Hanover Humane. The students read a school-wide book called The World According to Humphrey as part of the “One School,  One Book Program.”    As part of this project, students wanted to raise money for Humphrey the hamster’s friends at Hanover Humane. The school goal was to raise $100 and, if it was reached, Elmont’s Vice Principal would kiss Humphrey the Hamster. Well, the students raised $390.32, and Ms. Sanders kissed Humphrey the Hamster!  Hanover Humane thanks the students and faculty at Elmont Elementary for this wonderful...

Doggie Days 2015 Tournament Benefits Hanover Humane Society

On July 23, the Hanover Women’s Golf Association 9 Hole League sponsored its Sixth Annual Doggie Days Tournament to benefit the Hanover Humane Society.  The event featured 28 players playing in a 9 hole scramble.  To emphasize the pet theme, each hole featured pictures of players’ pets:  dogs, cats, birds.  The  Air Force Eagle even sponsored one hole in hopes that someone would score an eagle! Tournament Chair, Suzanne Harman, worked with John Ellis, Golf Pro at Hanover Country Club, to promote and produce the event. Proceeds yielded $1,240 in donations for the Hanover Humane Society. Many thanks go to Fin & Feather in Ashland for sponsoring a hole and providing two prizes; to the new Sugar Fix Bakery in Ashland for donating a gift certificate, and to James River Cellars Winery for donating wine for prizes.  The winning team of Lanny Turnage, Jennifer McAdoo and Carole Johnson received gift certificates from Homemades by Suzanne!     The Hanover Humane Society is a private 501(c)3 non-profit.  All funding for the organization is derived from private fundraising and development initiatives.  The Hanover Humane Society does not receive any public funding.  Hanover Humane’s mission is to support animal welfare through its adoption, education and prevention...
