On April 11, 2011, the Aktion Club, sponsored by the Ashland Kiwanis Club, had their monthly meeting at the Pole Green Community Center in Mechanicsville.   Aktion Club members organized a supply drive for the Hanover Humane Society and presented their donated goods to Hanover Humane at the monthly meeting.  In appreciation for the donations, members of the Hanover Humane Society provided the Aktion Club members with a presentation about the Humane Society’s activities and introduced “Chip,” a tiny Cairn terrier-mix to the members.   The members enjoyed hearing Chip’s story of being born into Hanover Humane’s adoption program the night his mother was removed from the pound.    Members enjoyed handling Chip, and Chip enjoyed the attention!   Shown here are the Acktion Club members along with Chip.  The Hanover Humane Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit entity located at 12190 Washington Highway.  Hanover Humane helps find forever homes for animals and, in addition to adoption services, offers education and prevention programs for citizens in Hanover County and the Richmond metropolitan area.
